#“Sazerac”There are myriad ways to make an old fashioned, and depending on where you're located you will likely get into debates over what's proper and what's not. Here's a quick look at a few old fashioned recipes and the regions where they've been sourced from.
First, is arguably the oldest old fashioned build, brought to us from New Orleans, LA.
- Sazerac
2 oz Rye Whiskey
1/4 oz demarara syrup
Peychaud bitters
Stir in glass over cracked and cubed ice
Herbsaint rinse
Lemon expression (leave it in)
Second, we have the recipe that allowed for Wisconsin's obsession with Brandy.
- Brandy Old Fashioned, Sweet
1 cherry and 1 orange slice
1 teaspoon of terbinado sugar
Angostura bitters
Muddle the aforementioned ingredients
2 oz Brandy (typically Korbel)
Ice and top with Sprite
Cherry and orange "Flag" garnish
Third, we head over to the East Coast for the Don Draper edition.
- Old Fashioned (Non-descript)
2 oz Rye Whiskey
1/4 oz gomme/simple/dem syrup
Angostura bitters
Stir in glass over cracked and cubed ice
Orange expression (leave it in)

I have a subscription service that sends me 10 recipes a month for home cocktail making but the old fashioned recipe card I got was for a New York style old fashioned. They're disgusting!
Can someone please send me a replacement card with the Wisconsin derivative?
I'm going to open a ticket on your behalf!
